Teen Therapy

~ Supporting Teens Through Life's Challenges ~

Adolescence

The teenage years can bring significant emotional, social, and academic changes. As teens work toward greater independence, they may face increasing pressure from school, friendships, extracurricular activities, family expectations, social media, and planning for the future. When these stressors become overwhelming, therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to process emotions, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills.

I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where teens feel heard, respected, and understood. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work, allowing adolescents to openly explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences while developing practical tools they can apply in everyday life.

Using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) when appropriate, strengths-based interventions, and supportive therapy, I help teens identify unhelpful thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, strengthen problem-solving skills, and build resilience.

Teens may benefit from therapy if they are experiencing:

  • Anxiety or excessive worry
  • Depression or persistent sadness
  • Low self-esteem or lack of confidence
  • School-related stress or academic pressure
  • ADHD and executive functioning challenges
  • Friendship or peer relationship difficulties
  • Family conflict
  • Trauma or difficult life experiences
  • Grief and loss
  • Emotional regulation difficulties
  • Social anxiety
  • Life transitions or identity development

My goal is to help teens develop the confidence, insight, and coping skills needed to navigate challenges, strengthen relationships, and move toward adulthood with resilience and a greater sense of self.

Parent Collaboration

While therapy offers teens a confidential space to express themselves, I also recognize the important role parents and caregivers play in supporting their growth. When appropriate, I collaborate with families by providing guidance, sharing strategies, and discussing ways to reinforce skills outside of therapy, while maintaining the trust and confidentiality that are essential to the therapeutic process.
